TREATMENT OF MEDICAL WASTE AS AN EXAMPLE OF HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT


Civilization and technological development has contributed to the generation of ever more waste, which is a threat to human life and health as well as to the environment. Legal regulations, technological development and education in the field of proper waste management have been effective in minimizing their formation, including hazardous waste, including medical waste. Despite the dangers posed by inadequate treatment with medical waste, the problem of neutralization and management has been and is still ongoing. The article presents the classification and division of waste including medical waste. Precisely described, based on legal acts, treatment with medical waste including segregation, storage, transport and final disposal. The medical waste management was also analyzed on the example of selected voivodship.
