OPTIMIZATION OF PRE-DAMS IN THE WŁODZIENIN RESERVOIR`S BACKWATER AREA IN THE ASPECT OF THE IMPROVEMENT OF WATER QUALITY
The basin of river is one of the elements, with is determining the water quality in the reservoir located on this river. Building the storage reservoir on river leads to breaking of continuous of the river, decreasing water velocity, increasing the sedimentation process and it's also increasing the pollution load. The effect of all this processes could be the water eutrophication and silting-up. The negative effects can prevent rational use of the reservoir and it can disturb filling the main functions of the reservoir. This is the reason why on the tributary to the storage reservoir should be located the pre-dam. As a main aims of pre-dam can be included i.a. stopping the bead sediment and suspended sediment, nutrient substance, creation additional water storage. Based on the research and experiments conducted, it's given the dimensioning proposals for optimization of work two pre-dams located in the Włodzienin reservoirs`s backwater area. The pre-dams are located on the tributary rivers with is Troja river and Lewicki stream.
