SEMI-TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCHES OF THE BIOMASS IN PRODUCTION PROCESS OF SYNTHETIC GAS USED TO POWER INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES


Nowadays, waste management, increase in demand for electricity and search for alternative sources of energy are the most important troubles of developing civilization. Production of bio-waste in Poland is about 20 million tons yearly, and municipal waste is 10 million tons (2014). Additionally, every year above 8 million tons of biomass are produced for energy purposes. One of the possibilities of using biomass as a source of energy is its gasification. Gas produced in this way could be used as a fuel to powera generator based on an internal combustion engine. However, use of biomass as a source of syngas could also create a lot of technological problems, related to variable composition of biomass, the quality of the gas obtained and the reliability of the system. In the article conception of test stand for semi-technological researches of biomass gasification process with gas conditioning system and measure of the most important parameters of gasification (such as weight loss in temperature function, composition of syngas and amount of pollutants produced in the process) are presented. It was found that results obtained in investigations conducted in semi-technological scale on the presented test bench could contribute to improving the efficiency of gasification technology.
